FAQs
A | Typically, NYS road tests are scheduled 6-10 weeks out. For busier times of year (i.e. summer), there may be a longer lead time. It's best to schedule your road test through Stevens Driving School well in advance of your anticipated date. |
A | Stevens Driving School instructors are trained to teach our students not only the skills needed to pass their NYS road test, but to be a safe driver once they have their license. Long-time drivers often develop driving habits that won't serve your new driver well. Trust our professional instructors to teach them the right way to drive! |
A | Those who are 16 or 17 have to wait 6 months before scheduling a road test. During that time 50 hours of practice with a parent, legal guardian or driving school is required. Those who are 18 or over do not have to wait. |
A | There are no guarantees in life. Even the best drivers can get nervous and fail the road test. We promise that we will give each student the best possible chance of passing his or her road test. |

A | We have a variety of students that come through Stevens Driving School. Many are brand new drivers. Our professional Driving Instructors do their absolute best to meet the needs of each student, as they are all different. Even when taking driving lessons we highly stress to the students and parents the importance of practicing in between your driving lessons to keep up the good driving skills you are learning in car with our Driving Instructors. We would recommend at least a 10 lesson package considering you are a brand new driver. If you are interested in hearing more about the services we provide or to sign up, please call the office @ 674-2340. Thank you! |

A | Students that recieve their license at 16 or 17 years of age after taking lessons with Stevens Driving School can drive after 9pm from work and school accredited courses only. |
A | The main reason why some students take Drivers Education is because when you complete Drivers Education, students that are 17 years of age and pass their Road Test receive a full license and are able to drive after 9pm at their own leisure. However, when taking Drivers Education students are in car with 3-4 other kids and only get about 15-20 minutes of behind the wheel drive time. Many students also find it very intimidating being in car with other students as all of them come in car with different driving capapbilities. Sometimes even though students may be able to drive after 9pm after Drivers Ed Completion, we have alot of parents that comment to us that their child hasn't learned enough through Drivers Ed because of the limited behind the wheel time. We have many students who complete Drivers Education and then come to Stevens to complete a full package of lessons because parents love that they get 45 minute one on one lessons with us and we also schedule and take the students to their road tests. If students have completed the Pre-Licensing course prior to signing up with us then we pro rate our package price for our clients as well. |
