Specialty options
If your student needs something more specific, these options make it easier to match the package to where they are right now.
- Experienced Driver Package: Two 45-minute lessons, the pre-licensing course, and the NYS road test with same-day prep before the test. Best for students who are already road-test ready and mainly need brush-ups and touch-ups. $420 cash | $435 credit
- Two Thruway Lessons: Add-on to any Stevens package for students who need extra comfort at highway speed. Lessons are 45 minutes each. $170 cash | $180 credit
- NYS Pre-Licensing Course only: Available online via Zoom for students with a valid NYS learner permit. $48

Important information
- Stevens offers private driving lessons, not a school-based Driver’s Education program that issues a senior license or Blue Card.
- If a student wants a Class D senior driving privilege at age 17, private driving schools cannot issue an MV-285. That must come through a school district driver’s education course.
- Students under age 18 still need the 50 hours of behind-the-wheel training required by the New York State DMV before receiving a valid driver’s license.
- Many insurance companies may offer the same discount for a 10-lesson package or higher with Stevens’ completion certificate, but families should always confirm with their own insurance carrier.
- Pickup and drop-off are available in many areas. If Stevens does not pick up in your area, students can meet at a designated location. See the areas we serve page for details.
